Request Support for a Large Number of Events

This service is to be used to place a large number of event support requests with one Batch Upload form.

NOTE: This tool should only be used to schedule events that require HIT event support. 

 

INSTRUCTIONS

 

  1. Download the appropriate batch upload form on this page, under "Files."
    • For Classroom and Lecture event support, use "Batch Lecture Support request form.xlsx"
    • For Meeting event support, use "Batch Meeting Support request form.xlsx"
  2. Open the spreadsheet and enter your data on the "Fill Me Out" sheet (labeled green). All data entry must conform to the validation requirements listed. Also, DO NOT make any changes to any sheets except the "Fill Me Out" sheet.
  3. When you are finished inputting data into the "Fill Me Out" sheet, select "File>Save As" and name your file appropriately:
    • For Classroom and Lecture event support, save your file as  "NetID-date-LectureUpload.xlsx," where "NetID" is your MSU NetID and "Date" is today's date. 
    • For Meeting event support, save your file as "NetID-date-MeetingUpload.xlsx," where "NetID" is your MSU NetID and "Date" is today's date. 
  4. Click "Request Service" on this page and use the "Attach File" tool at the bottom of the form to attach your Excel spreadsheet.

 

Additions and Changes

  1. If you have already submitted a batch event support request and need to request support for additional events, you should submit a new batch support request with only the additional items you need support for.
  2. If you need to make changes to a previous request, submit the change(s) using the "Update to Classroom, Lecture or Meeting Support" request.

 

Using the Batch Event Support Request Form as a template for Google Calendar

After you fill out the "Batch Event Support Request Form," you can use the data on the "Upload to GCal" worksheet and upload it to your college's Google Calendar. 

  1. Select all the data in the "Upload to GCal" worksheet. 
  2. Copy the data (Ctrl+C) and paste it to a new Excel workbook (when pasting the data, make sure to paste values only, rather than using the standard Ctrl+V paste function. To paste values, left-click in your first cell, then click the Home tab, click the arrow under “Paste,” then “Values & Source Formatting."  Alternatively, left-click in your first cell, then type, in sequence, Alt, H, V, E.
  3. Save your spreadsheet as a *.csv file type, and then use the following Google article which explains the process of uploading a .csv to a Google Calendar: https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37118?hl=en
